PostSafe PostSafe Web Rechtliches

Nutzungsbedingungen

Für die App PostSafe für iOS. Stand: 27. Oktober 2026. · English version below

2. Was PostSafe leistet

3. Voraussetzungen

Briefe kaufen

Terms of Use

English version. For the PostSafe app for iOS. Effective: October 27, 2026.

This is the English translation of the German terms of use above. If the two versions differ, the German version prevails, unless mandatory law of your country provides otherwise.

1. Who your contracting party is

The provider of the app is Josef Werner, Nägelseestraße 11, 79288 Gottenheim, Germany (kontakt@postsafe.eu). These terms govern the use of the app between you and me.

The purchase itself does not go through me. You buy the app and subscriptions in the Apple App Store; Apple is your contracting party for the purchase, billing and invoicing. Apple’s terms also apply to this part. I receive no payment data from Apple.

2. What PostSafe does

PostSafe photographs letters, recognizes the text, extracts key details such as sender, amounts, deadlines and the task to be done, suggests where to file the letter and reminds you by notification of deadlines that you have confirmed. Letters are stored in your own private iCloud and are available on your devices; the app loads the page images of older letters from your iCloud when you open them, which requires an internet connection. Subscribers can also agree to an encrypted emergency copy; details are in the Privacy Policy.

Recognition is done by machine. It is good, but not error-free. How you should deal with this is set out in section 8.

3. Requirements

  • An iPhone with a supported iOS version and enough free iCloud storage.
  • An Apple account and signing in to the app with Sign in with Apple.
  • An internet connection for scanning. Reading and searching letters already captured also works without one; only the full page images of older letters are loaded from your iCloud when you open them.
  • A minimum age of 16. Processing letter content is based on explicit consent, which younger persons cannot validly give on their own.

4. Free use, subscriptions and letters

How usage is counted

Usage is counted in letters. One letter covers up to ten pages. A document with 1 to 10 pages counts as one letter, one with 14 pages as two, one with 25 pages as three. If a capture exceeds ten pages, the app tells you beforehand how many letters it will count as, and you can cancel.

A letter is only counted if it was actually processed. Not counted are: blurry and therefore rejected captures, captures you cancel or repeat, drafts never sent, and failed processing. The blur check runs entirely on your device and never uses up quota.

The tiers

TierPriceScope
Free—3 letters once, not renewed monthly
PostSafe Pro€4.99 per month or €39.99 per year30 letters per calendar month
PostSafe Pro Young€2.99 per month for the first three months, then €4.99 per month30 letters per calendar month, like PostSafe Pro
PostSafe Max€29.99 per month200 letters per calendar month

All prices are final prices including VAT. The price shown in the App Store is decisive; outside the euro area, the App Store shows it in your local currency.

PostSafe Pro Young is intended for people under 23. The app does not verify age but relies on your statement; the scope is the same as PostSafe Pro.

The free letters are only available in the PostSafe app on an iPhone or iPad. With a subscription or purchased letters you can scan in any case.

The monthly quota is a cap per calendar month and cannot be carried over: unused letters of the monthly quota expire at the end of the month and do not accumulate. The month follows the Europe/Berlin time zone. For Pro and Max there is no total or lifetime cap. The 3 free letters, by contrast, are granted only once; they are not reset even if you delete letters again.

Introductory offer

If you have used up the free letters and have never had a PostSafe subscription, you may be offered PostSafe Pro at a reduced introductory price of €1.99 per month for the first three months. Apple decides whether you qualify based on your previous subscriptions. After the offer ends, the regular price of €4.99 per month applies. The scope is the same as PostSafe Pro in both cases.

Buying letters

In addition to any tier, including the free one, you can buy letters once: 10 letters for €10.00 or 30 letters for €30.00. Purchased letters do not expire. They belong to your PostSafe account, not to a device, and are available to you on a new iPhone after you sign in. The quota of your tier is used first, and only then purchased letters — and only as many as a document needs. Buying letters does not change your tier.

If Apple refunds a purchase, the letters from it are taken back as far as they have not been used yet. If you delete your account, remaining purchased letters end as well; the app shows your balance beforehand. Only Apple can make a refund (section 7).

5. Term, renewal and cancellation

Subscriptions run for one month, PostSafe Pro optionally for one year, and renew automatically for the same period each time unless you cancel. Payment is charged to your Apple account.

You can cancel at any time — at least 24 hours before the end of the current period so that it does not renew. You cancel with Apple, not with me: on your iPhone under Settings → your name → Subscriptions or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. I have no technical way to cancel a subscription for you. The app links to this directly.

After canceling, you can use the app in full until the end of the paid period.

Why there is no cancellation button on this website

Section 312k of the German Civil Code (BGB) requires businesses to provide a cancellation button when a consumer contract is concluded via a website. You do not conclude your subscription via this website but in the Apple App Store, and your contracting party for the purchase is Apple. The cancellation route is therefore provided where the contract was concluded — in the subscription settings of your Apple account, reachable at any time with a few taps and linked directly in the app.

Should I offer subscriptions directly via this website in the future, the button will of course be set up.

6. Your archive stays yours — permanently

After a subscription ends, you keep full access to all letters already captured, without time limit. Reading, searching and exporting remain possible without restriction. A subscription or purchased letters are needed only for creating new scans.

The reason is simple: your letters are in your own iCloud and take up your storage. Locking you out of data stored in your own storage space would not be justifiable. This commitment is part of this contract and also applies to future versions of the app.

7. Withdrawal and refunds

Since the purchase is made through the App Store, Apple is your contact for withdrawal and refunds. You submit requests at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple’s terms apply; your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

If you disagree with a decision by Apple or a matter concerns the app itself, write to me at kontakt@postsafe.eu. I will take care of it.

8. No legal, tax or financial advice

PostSafe is a tool for organizing mail, not advice. Recognized texts, summaries, extracted amounts, suggested deadlines, tasks and filing suggestions are generated by machine, also with the help of artificial intelligence. They are suggestions and may be incomplete or wrong. The original letter is always what counts.

What PostSafe reads from a letter remains a suggestion until you confirm it. Only after your confirmation in the app does PostSafe use a recognized deadline for reminders. Until you have confirmed, the app only points out that a letter is waiting for your confirmation — without a date and without an amount.

Check deadlines, amounts and tasks against the original letter before you confirm. Do not rely on the app alone in legally or financially significant matters. Reminders are an aid: they require notifications to be allowed for PostSafe and may not arrive, for example if your device is off. For disadvantages arising from a deadline not being recognized, being recognized incorrectly or not being shown in time, I am liable only in accordance with section 10.

To make this check easy, PostSafe shows, for a recognized deadline, the sentence from the letter from which the date was read. This sentence is a reading aid and not a guarantee: it comes from the same machine analysis as the date itself. For older letters it is missing because the app did not capture it at the time.

9. Your obligations

  • Only scan documents you are entitled to use.
  • Do not use the app for unlawful purposes and do not try to circumvent quotas, billing or security measures.
  • Check the recognized details of a letter against the original before you confirm them (section 8).
  • Make sure your Apple account is secured. Anyone with access to your iCloud account has access to your letters — I cannot change that, because the data is stored there.

10. Liability

I am liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. In the case of simple negligence, I am liable only for breach of an obligation whose fulfillment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose fulfillment you may regularly rely (essential obligation), and limited in amount to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract.

For loss of data, I am liable only to the extent that it would also have occurred with proper and regular data backup. Your letters are in your own iCloud; Apple is responsible for their availability. You can create your own backup of your archive in the app at any time under Export data.

Liability under the German Product Liability Act and your mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected by this entire section.

11. Availability and changes to the app

I strive for continuous availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance and disruptions at the service providers used or at Apple can lead to interruptions.

Features may be developed further or replaced. The scope of a paid subscription is not changed to your disadvantage during a current billing period, and the commitment in section 6 remains in any case.

12. Changes to these terms

I will notify you of changes to these terms at least six weeks before they are planned to take effect, in text form or in the app.

A change only becomes effective for you if you agree to it. Your silence does not count as agreement. If you do not respond, the previous terms continue to apply to you unchanged.

If continuing the contract on the previous terms is unreasonable for me in an individual case — for example because the legal situation or the service providers used have changed — I may terminate the contract with six weeks’ notice to the end of a billing period. Amounts already paid for unused periods will then be refunded pro rata. Your access to the existing archive under section 6 remains in that case too.

13. Additional terms required by Apple

These terms are on file with Apple as the license agreement for PostSafe. Apple requires the following points for this. They supplement the other sections and do not limit your statutory rights.

  • Parties. This agreement is solely between you and me, not with Apple. I alone am responsible for the app and its content.
  • Scope of license. You receive a non-transferable right to use PostSafe on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store terms. Other Apple accounts can access the app via Family Sharing.
  • Maintenance and support. I alone am responsible for this. Apple has no obligation in this respect.
  • Warranty. I alone am responsible for warranty. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple; Apple will then refund the purchase price to you. Beyond that, to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation, and all other claims, losses, damages, costs and expenses attributable to a failure to conform are my responsibility. Your statutory rights against me remain unaffected.
  • Claims relating to the app. I alone am responsible for claims by you or third parties relating to the app or its use — in particular product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or privacy law.
  • Intellectual property. If a third party claims that PostSafe infringes its intellectual property rights, I take responsibility for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
  • Legal compliance. You represent that you are not located in a country that is subject to a United States Government embargo, and that you are not listed on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Contact. Direct questions, complaints and claims to: Josef Werner, Nägelseestraße 11, 79288 Gottenheim, Germany, kontakt@postsafe.eu.
  • Third-party terms. You comply with the third-party terms that apply to your use of the app.
  • Apple as third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and may enforce it against you.

14. Governing law and final provisions

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If your habitual residence is in another member state of the European Union, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of that state remain unaffected.

I am neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

If any provision of these terms is invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions remains unaffected.
